LAMDA Speech and Drama
LAMDA Speech and Drama Lessons are offered as an extra-curricular activity. These lessons take place within and around the school day by Mrs Caroline West.
Mrs West is a LAMDA teacher (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) and has been active in the Performing Arts profession for over 25 years. She has been an actress and teaches various dance classes including ballet, tap and modern dance. Her skill set also includes being a qualified vocal coach, production directing and choreography for many theatre companies within the UK.
Children receive various benefits whilst working with Mrs West and the overall objective is to provide pupils with the facility to develop life skills such as self-confidence, expressive communication, and clear speaking. Classes are in verse and prose, acting, mime, public speaking, reading for performance, devised drama and musical theatre. Pupils can take one or more examinations in their chosen fields.
Universities in the UK require candidates to earn a certain amount of UCAS points. The QCF (Qualification Credit Framework) recognises LAMDA’s advanced level grades 6, 7 and 8 as an equivalent to GCSE, AS Levels and A Levels.
The lessons run over an 8-week term, one 30 minute lesson per week. She offers One to One private lessons, Duo lessons and group lessons.
