All parents are made to feel welcome here at St Dominic’s Priory School Nursery. We believe that parents and teachers working together can only benefit a child’s development and learning. Therefore we seek to develop an effective partnership with parents, so that there is a two-way flow of information, knowledge and expertise.
Parents are welcome to meet and talk to Nursery staff and are free to access their child’s development records.
We have a strict collection policy for parents. Only the authorized persons nominated by parents on the Pupil Information Sheet will be allowed to collect their child. If someone other than the nominated person is to collect their child, staff must be notified in advance, preferably in writing, as children will not be allowed to leave the premises without this notification. Whoever collects a child from Nursery will be required to sign the child out before leaving the premises.
Our parents are very satisfied with the care and education their children receive at St Dominic’s Priory School Nursery. Below are a just a few of the many comments we have received:
“We really appreciate the extra effort the Nursery staff has made to help our son make friends and settle in to the Nursery”
“Our daughter spent 4 terms in Nursery during which time she developed from a shy 2 year old to a confident 4 year old ready to start school. We have been most impressed by the school and our younger daughter has now started.”
“Since our son has been in Nursery we have noticed a huge difference in his development. His social skills have developed threefold and his confidence and speech has also improved overnight. We would have no hesitation in recommending parents to place their child in the safe hands of the staff at St Dominic’s.”
“St. Dominic's provides a place where children can explore and learn in the most positive way. It is well resourced, and staff ensure the activities are organised to excite and expand the learning experience. A warm welcome greets the children helping them to settle into a very happy and safe environment where the children grow in so many ways. My son benefited from this nursery, and now our daughter is enjoying the same experience.”
The Nursery children wear school uniform. Please contact the school office for more details.
Please help the children to become independent by encouraging them to dress and undress themselves.
Accidents inevitably occur when children are busy at play, we therefore request that you please bring a spare set of clothes in a drawstring bag to place on your child’s peg. Some spare clothes are kept in the Nursery. We fully cater for children who are not currently toilet trained. Children joining the Swans Room aged 3 should be toilet trained and in pants.
The Nursery is regularly inspected by the relevant Inspectorate. In the academic year 2011-2012, the Nursery was inspected by both OFSTED and the Independent Schools Inspectorate and came out with ‘flying colours’.
The Nursery was regarded as a real strength to the whole school by our ISI Inspection in 2015. Copies of the full Inspection reports are available on request or online at the ISI website.
