Thirty two schools from across the extensive Midlands region were competing in the Midlands Independent Schools Athletics Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. Our Junior athletes performed fantastically well on the day.

The Year 5 Girls Team were delighted to find that they had won the overall Yr 5 competition - Midlands Team Champions - an outstanding result!
Individually, Bella was crowned 150m Midlands Champion, going one better, having been runner up last year, and as a team they were also overall winners of the 4 x 100m relay event.

Joseph in Year 6 claimed a podium place taking third in the cricket ball throw, with a throw over 42 metres.

A super afternoon in the sunshine was had by all the boys and girls from Primary Two at the Dodderhill Multi Sports Day, the emphasis being on participation rather than competition, with each group rotating around a set of activities – tag rugby, long jump, tennis, foam javelin, football rounders, netball and diamond cricket.

Joe started to play cricket for Moddershall CC in 2014 at the age of 5, he played his first competitive game for the under 8's team in the South Moorlands Junior Cricket League. Joe made an immediate impact, helping them win the Stone Cricket Festival at Little Stoke Cricket club by hitting the winning runs off the last ball of the game.

Primary 6 pupils enjoyed a morning trip out to Clip n' Climb. Pupils had chosen the trip as a treat to celebrate coming to the end of their time in the Prep School. Children had a fun but exhausting time challenging themselves with the different climbs. Mr Messenger also joined in and raced pupils at the head to head climbing!

After a splendid year’s work, Year 8 celebrated in true Spanish style with a Fiesta out in the sunshine. They enjoyed “tapas” of Chorizo, jamón serrano (cured ham) and queso manchego (a sheep’s cheese from La Mancha) with some delicious homemade bread –
Pan casero. ¡Delicioso!


Our Year 11 leavers recently celebrated their last year in Senior School at their Prom night which was held at Tillington Hall in Stafford. The students put great effort into organising their perfect night and what a fantastic job they did! A delightful evening full of good food, dancing and laughing was had by all pupils and staff who attended.

We now look forward to our Prize Giving evening to celebrate all students efforts throughout the school.

Some of our Year 10 students recently completed the weekend Practice Expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.
They braved soaring temperatures to carry their packs and equipment for approximately 25 kilometres over 2 days and camped overnight under canvas.

They completed all tasks well – navigating, cooking, teamwork all successful.

They should now be prepared and looking forward to the Qualifying Expedition on 7/8 July, having learnt and refined a few things over the weekend.

Shauney and Georgina received their Latin and Ballroom medals on Saturday 30th June. The medals were presented by the Deputy Mayor Councillor Elizabeth Shenton, Newcastle-under-Lyme. In addition, Shauney was delighted to receive a trophy for the most improved.

The theme of our STEM day this year was aviation. The aims of the STEM day were to develop teamwork, project planning, problem-solving and presentation skills, in addition to practical technology skills.

Students were placed into mixed year teams of 4 or 5 and had a variety of tasks and challenges to complete. A paper tower building ice-breaker activity gave students the opportunity to decide how to organise themselves as a team.

Our U11 mixed tri golf team qualified for the prestigious Staffordshire School Games as one of the best tri golf teams in the County in winning the Stafford & Stone Partnership Competition. Chipping and putting their way to success through eight different challenges were Molly, Joel, Aoife, William, Joseph, Holly, Sissy, Joe, Barnaby, Joe and Ruby.

St. Dominic's have now won this trophy five times in the last six years!
