To celebrate British Science Week, pupils have taken part in a Space themed Science day.

They were lucky enough to have a visit from the Wonderdome – an inflatable planetarium set up in the Priory Hall. Children from Pre-School right up to Years 7 and 8 each had a turn inside the Wonderdome where the instructor Ben, took them on a guided tour of the solar system.

Pre-school enjoyed celebrating Pancake day and learning all about the importance of Shrove Tuesday in the Catholic calendar. They worked as a team to make a batter and then watched carefully as Miss Louise cooked them on the crepe machine. The children then enjoyed decorating them with their favourite fruits; they went down very well!

Our ‘World Book Day’ theme this year is: ‘Share a Story’!

The Preparatory school are hugely excited about sharing their favourite stories by bringing in books to swap with other students tomorrow.

Staff have also fully participated by bringing in one of their favourite stories and ‘telling’ it to their class students! The oral tradition of story ‘telling’ is hugely important to our culture, as it improves our auditory memory, and from Chaucer’s day, has held audiences ‘spellbound’ in the joint art of listening.

Miss Felicity (our former nursery manager) has a fantastic new business venture called 'Little Mess Staffordshire'. Today, she visited school to run a messy play session for Pre-school and Reception, which was themed around their current topic of 'Space'. The children enjoyed using their senses to explore all different types of galactic mess and there was lots of communicating amongst the group, using their new 'space' knowledge and language!
