Primary 1 took advantage of the lovely weather and went for a walk around the school grounds.

They were looking for signs of Spring as part of their Topic work so they recorded what they found, ready for discussion back in the classroom.


Primary 5 pupils finished their Science topic on the Solar System by making scale models of the planets. Children worked together to decorate the planets in the correct colours before arranging them in the correct order.

On Monday 25th March, Year 7 presented an assembly on Earth Hour. They explained what Earth Hour is all about and discussed the value of Earth as a life support system. They explained what the threats to Earth are and invited St Dominic’s pupils to make a promise to help to protect our Earth. Mrs Longmore was very impressed with the Year 7 pupils as they had prepared well for the assembly and they shared their promises.

Georgina recently took part in the ProAm Champions UK Area Competition, where she danced ballroom with her professional partner Oliver. They performed very well and were placed 2nd in their student/teacher category.

Well Done Georgina!

On Thursday, Mrs Cook, Miss Jovanovic and Year 9 students visited Lichfield Cathedral in order to observe and sketch a new collection of paintings by the artist in residence, Peter Walker.

Walker has only recently completed his pieces, collectively entitled: Journey to the Cross; they will be displayed in the cathedral throughout Lent.

This morning Pre-school had an exciting time predicting what would happen in a variety of science experiments, which are highlighted below:

 Flowers in vases. We filled 6 vases with water and then added white flowers. We then coloured the water and the children talked about what might happen.

Skittles experiment. We placed some Skittles in a circular pattern on a white tray. We then added some water and watched what happened.
The Skittles made a beautiful rainbow pattern.

Today, Primary 6 children presented a fabulous assembly filled with exciting experiments and demonstrations.

Last week during British Science Week, Primary 6 pupils practised conducting the experiments and working on their presentations. In groups, they also wrote their own scripts to explain the discoveries.

We are excited to ‘Join in the fight for your world’ and participate in Earth Hour 2019.

We will be holding an assembly on Monday 25th March and will be inviting our pupils and staff to ‘make a pledge’.
