22 teams from eleven schools across the County contested the Staffordshire Boccia Championships held at Chase Terrace Technology College, Cannock in January.
Boccia is played between teams of three. The aim of the game is to get one of your balls closer to the jack than any of your opponent’s balls. A game is divided into ‘ends’, with the overall winner of the match the first team to win a predetermined number of ends. Each team gets six attempts/balls to get closest to the jack and the winner takes that end.
The 'A' team won their group stage winning all their matches and qualifying for the semi final stage. In a tight semi final the team took an early lead with some tactical jack placement but were eventually pegged back, losing out to an excellent opposition team.
St. Dominic's then took the victory in a third place play off, collecting the bronze medal podium place.
Congratulations to all our competitors - Jude, Jayden, Ciaran, Alisha, Olivia and Aedan for some great teamwork and some excellent performances.
