Our ‘World Book Day’ theme this year is: ‘Share a Story’!
The Preparatory school are hugely excited about sharing their favourite stories by bringing in books to swap with other students tomorrow.
Staff have also fully participated by bringing in one of their favourite stories and ‘telling’ it to their class students! The oral tradition of story ‘telling’ is hugely important to our culture, as it improves our auditory memory, and from Chaucer’s day, has held audiences ‘spellbound’ in the joint art of listening.
Senior school students will begin the day with a lecture on ‘Love and Loss in Literature’, they have had two days to ‘date a book’ (swap books which have been wrapped in brown paper with key words on the front). Our Senior Staff will enjoy a coffee morning swapping their books and ‘sharing stories’ before they begin teaching.
May we again extend a sincere thank you to everyone who have again ‘rummaged and sought’ to find a book suitable for swapping. We hope that you enjoy reading the new book with your child or hearing about the book they have dated!
