In Physics, the current topic for year 7 is ‘Energy’. This includes learning about the 9 different ways to produce mains electricity.
Having studied non-renewable Fossil Fuels and Nuclear power together, the class was then split into 4 teams and given a range of printed resources to produce a poster and presentation on the main renewables: Wind, Solar, Hydroelectric and Geothermal.
They then had to explain to the rest of the class how they worked, describe the energy transfer taking place and also the relevant advantages and disadvantages.
Not only did the posters and presentations include excellent science and well-researched facts, they were also thoroughly engaging and entertaining.
